Electric back on...

So we had yet another two days without electric. Thanks Duke for non-promptness. Anyways here is what I have been wanting to blog the last 2 days.

At Bible study we were discussing "unexpected ways" to do acts of service to follow the example of Jesus washing the disciples' feet. We were in depth in answering the question when Marley crept up on my mom and popped mom's unprotected toe into her mouth. Marley takes unexpected feet washing very seriously.

Also during Bible study Erin was saying how she had trouble getting along with "Perfect" Christians and how she much preferred Christians like me. Dang.

There were a ton of cops in front of Kahoots (a Colerain bar) on Friday and I just found out it was because a nearly blind man stepped into traffic (on accident) and was killed. Yikes.

Tonight as I was driving home there were choppers and police cruisers en masse in front of "Club Octane". There was also a huge amount of people loitering around, I hope it was not another shooting. *sigh*

The Robyn, Scott, Colleen, Toby, Aimee, Marley & I walked to Kroger tonight to get some ice cream and as we were walking in this woman was yelling at her daughter for stepping on her foot and she said something like, "Stop stepping on my f**king foot, you f**king little brat." The kid was about... 5? I seriously wonder if when this woman thinks she is a good mom and even if she is not the mother of the child, I wonder if she thinks she is doing the kid some sort of service?
Makes me sick to my stomach. I am never one to shy away from a well timed cuss word (and if I am honest a gratuitious cuss word) but to insult a kid... sick.

Robyn & I chose Marley & Aimee's party dresses. So... stinkin... cute.

Oh and I finally won a game of poke after a long spell of card deadness and distracted fails. Yay!

Found Answers

"And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife... Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him." 1 Corinthians 7: 12-17ish

I am much relieved. The phrase "unequally yoked" will stop floating around in my head. I do love that it says "if he is willing to live with her". Ha! I feel like anyone should be rewarded for being willing to live with me.

Spent the day with the Duebbers and worked on Marley's scrapbook, hopefully it will be nigh unto finished (excepting for the First Birthday page) for her party. Her (their) birthday invites have been shipped from and should be here this week or beginning of next week. I found out Debbie (Marley's grandma) won't be there which is very unfortunate, should have checked dates with all the core family members but there are so many crazy schedules in the Winslow/Goodridge/Duebber families it would have been hard to orchestrate anyway. We're doing a lunch & dessert table. Fancy shmancy sammiches and desserts in abundance. You should never plan a party when you're hungry.

A Good Day

Had a great day today even though it started with a Marley poop explosion. One word: squelch.

After we got up we got showered and fresh, turned the AC on, and Chris and Cailin came over, shortly followed by Iris, Kate & Timm. Lindsey came over and approved the wedding invitations I designed for her (easiest customer ever).

Then Bobby, Marley & I met up with Ralph & Debbie for pizza at Dewey's and then we ate ice cream by the river. Since I finally charged my camera battery and got the "new" camera strap put on it, I got a few cute shots.

Eating billy goat pizza. Mushrooms are a yes, olives are a no.
Grandpa Ralph is immune to hair-pulling.
The sky line.
And of course, what better way to end the day than with some amatuer dentistry?

Happy F-day dad!

Bob's first father day. He slept in, he got a gift or two and he ate a porterhouse. Life is as it should be. He also said something to me that set my heart aflutter. What a wonderful father time, chance and grace has made him to be. Marley adores him and I like him alright myself.
More birthday planning has been done. 57-59 people are projected to show. More then that to be invited. Could it be smaller? Yes it could. But God has put this many wonderful friends and family into our lives, why should we? To minimize stress? I say unto you, nay nay!
Mom picked up "Prayer for Dummies" at a garage sale and I have been reading it. It is delightful! So many points and ideas I have never considered before. Contemplation and meditation. I am a little closer to learning how to listen to God instead of just talking to Him.

Yes yes yes THANK YOU!

"I finally told our neighbor DON that Bob's name wasn't Ben. Because the DON is kind he did not demand we change it." -me
For those of you who don't know it... I live next door to the black Chuck Norris.

God I am thankful for a WHOLE LOT today.

For DON and how easy it is to be his neighbor.
For fathers and for giving me the best of these.
For Erin because she is the most faithful stalker I have ever had.
For Noah because he is very sweet with Marley.
For Christian friends who don't bore me to death.
For beautiful nesting bowls. Ok, ok materialistic I know... hmm how about for making creative people who think to create beautiful nesting bowls?
For devotional books that do not make me roll my eyes.
For air conditioning.
For being born in a country where I can have air conditioning... and no arranged marriage.
For my imagination (and to a lesser extent for my ability to copy other artists). :D
For gladness.
For a religious marriage to the one Man who will forever be able to love me unconditionally (even though I turn into an evil hag when it is hot, or I am hungry or when my shoes give me blisters... or I get a bug bite.. or I see a misquito anywhere near me... or when...)
For each new minute of patience I find within myself.
For Narnia.

Pish posh

Planning Marley & Aimee's first birthday. So many people to invite. We are making the invitations and ordering them from, I get a 10% commission (can't make it lower then 10%) but then I can apply the credit to custom made stamps. The invitations are over the top frilly girly goodness. Very Art Neauvelle (that is the feminine).

Marley's affection is very aggressive and it is driving me crazy. She is always pulling hair. I have been telling her "no" but I it has not been enough so I may try time out though she probably will not understand... Argh.

*edit* ok game plan....

"Respond to seemingly aggressive acts – hair pulling, biting, or pinching – with gentle firmness. Unclamp your child's hand (or mouth) from your arm, say something like ‘No hurting’, and if need be put her down on the floor. Let your expression be serious (no laughing, even if the behaviour seems somehow cute) but not overly shocked. Pick her up soon, before she begins to fuss too much, but be prepared to repeat the whole procedure many times."

"Give more attention to the injured child rather than the one who did the hitting... Simply say: "No hitting!" Then, turn and give attention to the child who was wronged. "

More & Less

Who decides what has worth and what does not? Is a ruin of a coliseum worth more than a ruin of hardware store?

Things I am grateful for:

Sleeping babies
Bette Midler
Good intentions

Robyn & I have been working on getting Marley & Aimee's first birthday worked out. We decided we ARE going to have one party together even though that means there will be a bunch of people. Trust me, Robyn nor I want a huge bash but all said and done there will likely be 40+ family and CLOSE friends show up (more than 50 actually invited). How did this happen? There use to be 5 of us, now 50?

Looks like we are going o have it at the church on a Sunday after services finish. Now just have to remember to enjoy the planning. Cake cake cake cake cake cake cake...

Post Camping

We had a great time at Cave Run Lake. This is the group we took. +Me +Chris O.

This was a view from our site in the morning.

Marley & I on the boat.

Bob pre-water. :)

Marley was very tolerant of the scene change and the loudness of our fellow campers. Our fellow campers were very tolerant of Marley :) So Yay!

Tomorrow Marley goes with us to Red River Gorge for her first camping trip (ok technically her second) (her first post-utero camping trip). Pray for us.

Oh and while she was nursing to sleep tonight she had her big toe hitched in my bellybutton. So cute.

We took Murphy to Ralph & Debbie's so they can watch him while we camp (decided one kid was enough this time) & our house feels so empty without him. Though without the constant dog poots it smells way better.

That & This

Since I became a mom I have smiled much, much more.

I have been giving way to much importance to my "entry way".
I am making a list of things I am grateful (to God) for. A few of tonights...

Crayons with clever names
Baby yawns
Great fiction
Missed opportunities
The shiny people I have been able to know before their time on earth was over (Jason, Grandma...)
Rainbows (and rainbow prints)
Strawberries & raspberries (I think that strawberries are proof of God's love)
Candid kids
